Indian consumers will be able to buy iPad2 from April 29. The cheapest model with 16GB storage and without 3G has been priced at Rs 29,500. The top model with 64GB storage and 3G will be available for Rs 46,900.

LG to invest Rs 300 crore in India on marketing initiatives
LG Electronics India Ltd introduced a new television, CINEMA 3D and said it planned to sell one lakh units of 3D TVs during this year and garner 50 per cent market share in the segment.It will invest Rs 300 crore in India for marketing of its flat panel television this year.

Samsung eyes 40% growth in sales
Seong-Taek Lim, VP-sales and marketing-visual display business, CIS and South West Asia, Samsung Electronics says, “We are looking at clocking a 40% jump in sales this year in India largely driven by technology-led categories. As far as flat panel televisions go, we are looking at doubling our volume this year as we expect to sell around 1.5 million units.”
With the growing trend of health awareness among Indians, the estimated Rs 1,600 crore Indian water purifier market is set for tough competition with leading consumer durable firms, including Godrej, Panasonic and LG gearing up to take on Hindustan Unilever (HUL), Kent RO, Tata Chemicals and Eureka Forbes.

LG to double Indian production capacity in 3 years
To take on the competition, consumer durables maker LG Electronics will expand its smartphone range, double the production capacity and adopt an aggressive approach to compete with market leaders in India. LG is planning to increase the smart phone portfolio and invest more in product development and marketing in the smartphone segment.

LG moves into 3D gaming
Consumer durables leader LG is taking the battle for 3D dominance from television to other viewing devices with the launch of its 3D personal computer monitors. LG is now opening PC gaming zones in collaboration with two gaming companies in the country. The company has not disclosed specifics. The first LG branded gaming zone will open in August this year.

3G handsets get cheaper
According to an analysis, the prices of mobile phones that support 3G, services like streaming live events, videos and high-speed internet have dropped nearly 20% over the last year. After 3G was introduced, customers are choosing handsets that support these technologies. From entry to mid and highlevel, the prices of handsets that support high-speed data, by leading brands like Nokia, Samsung and LG, Sony Ericsson and Micromax , are now up to a third lower when compared to the corresponding period last year.
